I'm on top of the world, Hey!

Updated: Aug 13, 2022

Dubai, I don't even know where to begin, for this amazing city. It is so progressive! Everything, and I mean everything, is over the top. (I'm going to try and outline our trip without saying "amazing" one hundred times.)

Let's start with the hotel. The Atlantis is next level. From the service, to the restaurants, the water park, and the kids club - everything was well thought out. The rooms are very spacious, and have everything you may need. There are multiple pools and beaches. There are endless amounts of family friendly activities.

FOOD.. There are an abundance of food options, on site. For breakfast, there are two buffets options. Buffets are not my thing, but The Atlantis buffet breakfasts were amazing!! I really enjoyed Saffron. For dinner, they have family friendly restaurants and fancier (non family restaurants, like Nobu). We stuck with the more casual restaurants. Wavehouse was a fan favorite. It had live music and an arcade. We, also, really enjoyed Gordon Ramsay's Bread Street Kitchen. Here we sat outside, where there was a playground. We were able to enjoy our meal and drinks, while the kids played.

The aqua park was, by far, my favorite part. Every morning, after breakfast, we put the kids in kids club, and hit the water park with our friends. Us adults had the time of our lives, on those water slides. The Odyessy of Terror and Zoomerango are a must!! I haven't laughed so much, in my life! Fernando said he was going to do The Leap of Faith...still waiting for this. Maybe it is an excuse to go back?! As for the kids, there is lots of water fun for them, too! There are two kids sections to the water park. No one enjoyed themself, as much as, Laney! The girl is such a thrill seeker!

Outside of the hotel, we did a sunset desert safari tour, that included camel rides, dinner, and a performance. The girls really enjoyed the camel ride, and getting henna tattoos, before dinner. You can book this tour via Viator. I can't recommend it enough. It was fun, for everyone!

We spent another day exploring the city of Dubai - specifically, the mall and the Burj Khalifa. The Burj Khalifa is probably what Dubai is most known for. It is massive, and a very cool experience. On your way to the top, the walls are covered with the history of the Burj Khalifa. The elevator ride was super quick, even when traveling 125 floors. We booked tickets through the Burj Khalifa website. I recommend going early - when they open. We went at opening time and had no wait. By the time we left, there was a very long line to get in.

The Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall are connected, very convenient. After visiting the Burj Khalifa, we walked around the mall. It was massive, like the BK. There is an aquarium inside, and any store you could possibly want to visit. We enjoyed lunch at the Cheesecake Factory (yes, we are so American), with a view of the aquarium. And get this...while walking around, we saw KFC had robots delivering the orders to its customers!!

I wanted to mention, if it wasn't for our friends asking, we never would have gone to Dubai. Dubai was never on our list of places to visit, while in Germany. Traveling with our friends made this trip extra special. One of the greatest parts of this expat experience, has been traveling with our friends. We've been lucky enough to find friends with kids around the same age, who are always down for a good time.

If you have ever thought about going to Dubai....JUST DO IT!! If you are traveling to Dubai, all of these things are must do's. FYI - you are able to visit the aqua park, without staying at the Atlantis.
