What I miss.

Being an expat has a lot of benefits. However, when you are 35 years old, you are used to having certain staples in your life. Whether it's an item or a place, they will always hold a special place in your heart. Family and friends aside, below are the things I miss most (in no specific order).

  1. Chick-fil-a | I think it goes without saying, this place is really missed. The biscuits, the milkshakes, the chicken...all of it!!!

  2. Target | I love how Target is a one stop shop. I can get anything that I may need, in one stop, all while drinking a Starbucks latte. There are not any stores like this here. Fernando is actually thankful - he does not miss this place! Ha!

  3. Pre-made cookie dough | This probably seems silly, because you can always just make cookies. However, sometimes you just want 4 cookies and not a mess. Sometimes you just want some cookie dough - I know I am not alone. Nestle Toll House, help a sister out!!

  4. Flavored Coffee Creamer | There is no Coffee-Mate peppermint, hazelnut, vanilla, etc. flavored coffee creamer. They don't even have coffee creamer! Your options are milk or milk. Hey Silk, send me some Oatmeal Cookie Oat Milk creamer, PLEASE!!!!

  5. Buying Medicine | In the US, you can simply go to Target/Walmart and get medicine for whatever is bothering you (Tylenol, Aleve, Zyrtec, etc.). Here, you must go to a pharmacy, tell them what's wrong, then they will give you what they think you need. With the language barrier, it can be difficult at times. Overall, the pharmacists are really nice and helpful. The process is just easier in the US.

  6. Grocery Delivery | There is one grocery store that delivers groceries, but good luck getting a delivery in the next few weeks. You, literally, have to order so far ahead. Also, Amazon does not deliver in 2 hours, or 1 day. Most things take 2 or 3 days to be delivered.

  7. Regular Sized Appliances | Our refrigerator is the size of a mini fridge. Our freezer is even smaller. Our freezer is basically for ice cream only. We had to get a mini fridge, so we can house everything we need aka our beer.

  8. AIR CONDITIONING | Whew child, this summer has been hot and sweaty! We live on the top floor of an apartment building. Most days, AC is not needed. This summer, though, there have been weeks of sweltering heat. Can you imagine what it's like in our flat?! I will tell you, miserable! Even with fans and more fans, it was very uncomfortable.

Obviously, these are all first-world problems. We are doing just fine without them. It would be the cherry on top, to have these things, too.

Which one of these items would you miss the most, and why is it Target? JK, comment below and tell me what you would miss the most.
